Destination Oregon: Fort Stevens State Park

It boasts one of the largest campgrounds in the nation, its origins date back to the Civil War and it’s the only American fort that was ever fired upon during World War II. For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones takes us to the 43-acre Fort Stevens State Park in Warrenton, on the northern Oregon coast.

Destination Oregon: History of the Pendleton Round-Up

It’s a rodeo that’s almost as old as the city of Pendleton itself. The Round-Up started in 1909 and has become one of the longest-running and most recognizable rodeos in Oregon. For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones takes a look at the history of the 108th Pendleton Round-Up.

Destination Oregon: Volunteers Help Prepare for the Pendleton Round-Up

The 108th Pendleton Round-Up starts in two weeks. The best cowboys and cowgirls in the land will compete in the historic rodeo, which wouldn’t be able to take place if not for the hard work of more than 1,400 volunteers.

For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones meets some of those volunteers and gets his own hands a little dirty too. Thanks to all the volunteers in Pendleton for everything they do to make the Round-Up possible every year. This year it starts on Wednesday, September 12th.

Destination Oregon: Paisley Mosquito Festival

A famous business leader from the 20th century once said, “We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems.” For years, in the small southeastern Oregon town of Paisley, the ongoing problem was mosquitoes. However, the town turned that problem into a brilliant opportunity.

Dave Jones takes us to the annual Mosquito Festival in this week’s edition of Destination Oregon.

Destination Oregon: Panacea at the Canyon

Merriam-Webster defines panacea as “the remedy for all ills and difficulties,” and that is the thinking behind Panacea at the Canyon, a luxury campground in Central Oregon. But, as Dave Jones tells us in this segment of Destination Oregon, do not call it glamping.

Destination Oregon: Worthy Brewing Hopservatory

In a beer town like Bend, breweries have to get creative to set themselves apart from the crowd. Good beer and great food is a start, but one local brewery is taking a step to boldly go where no brewery has gone before. For this week’s Destination Oregon, Dave Jones takes us to the Worthy Brewing Hopservatory.

Destination Oregon: Freebridge Brewing in The Dalles

It’s not unusual to find new uses for old buildings. It happens all the time. In The Dalles two local entrepreneurs recently opened the town’s first brewery and you won’t believe what the building was originally built to be.

In this week’s Destination Oregon report, sponsored by Bi-Mart, Dave Jones takes us to Freebridge Brewing in The Dalles.
