Deschutes County Commissioners expected to deny Redmond Pot Plant

During a Monday morning meeting Deschutes County Commissioners stated that they will likely deny an application for a commercial marijuana growing and processing facility proposed in Redmond by company Evolution Concepts.

The decision upholds an appeal filed by neighbors earlier this year.

Commissioners Tammy Baney and Phil Henderson were against the application from Evolution Concepts, citing concerns over noise, odor and water use. They also said the proposed facility was too close to the Redmond urban growth area and so was not “harmonious” with the area.

Commissioner Anthony DeBone was in support of Evolution Concepts’ application and said he would be willing to approve them with some stipulations. However he was outvoted 2 to 1.

County staff will now write up a formal denial of the application and the commissioners will have to vote on it in January.

Sad that this was not allowed. Where it was going to be on the property was not going to be seen by any neighbors and the water use was not going to be much. What a shame
