Lost Soldier Rememberance

For the ninth year in a row, a Bend woman organized a Memorial Day reading of the names of all of the American casualties since the beginning of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. With more than 6,500 names to read, the event was expected to last 14 hours.

This year, the event was held at Troy Field, and for one young woman who served in Afghanistan and happened to walk by the readings, one of the names really was more than just a number.

Central Oregon Daily’s Chris Biggs has the story.
