City Crews Tackle the First Sustained Snowfall of the Season
City of Bend Streets and Operation crews were out in full force today to combat the first sustained snowfall of the season. Central Oregon Daily’s Cydney McFarland jumped in with one of the truck drivers as he started his shift on the streets today.
The city does have chemicals to melt ice but when temperatures drop below 20 degrees the rely on drivers to plow and lay cinders on the streets of Bend. During major storms, like last year, drivers can spend up to 12 hours driving the city, dropping cinders and plowing.
