Remembering the Forgotten Past

For patients who have Alzheimer’s and dementia, the things they loved the most are often the first things they lose as their memories begin to fade. That’s why the folks at Mount Bachelor Memory Care have come up with a new program called #ALZAboutTown, using photo shoots in familiar places to trigger the memories of their patients as well as help them re-live some of the best moments of their lives.

In addition to the blog they’re hoping to create, Simeon says that they’d also like to have a show at the Liberty here in Bend this spring as an open house art show and invite family and communities members.

Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan has the story.

Memory Care Facility Fosters Kitten

When taking care of patients dealing with dementia and Alzheimer’s, caregivers try all kinds of methods to stimulate their patients senses and reawaken the parts of them that are sometimes hard to reach.

For tonight’s cover story, Central Oregon Daily’s Anyssa Bohanan shows us how Aspen Ridge Memory Care, a local memory care facility, is looking to a four-legged friend from the Humane Society of Central Oregon to make a positive influence on their patients.
