Local author Rick Steber has released a new book based on a true story about missionary Jimmy Cornelison and the complex relationships and conflicts among zealous Christian missionaries, land-hungry pioneers and indigenous people. Amber Keyser’s new book, Pointe, Claw, is getting starred reviews from Booklist and Publisher’s Weekly and is described as a novel exploring what it means to be a girl in a girl’s body. Amber reflects on how the book, which intertwines the stories of two teenage girls, is very personal to her. Amber is also the author of The Way Back from Broken (a finalist for the Oregon Book Award) and The V-Word (selected by the New York Public Library as one of the 50 Best Books of the Year for Teens in 2016).
