Bend Fire Department Hosts 2nd Annual Winter Warm Clothing Drive

By the time the temperatures start dropping below freezing this winter, it might be too late to help those in need of protection from the elements. That’s why Bend Firefighters are starting their annual winter coat drive now, to get a head start on the weather.

Six-Year-Old Girl Helps Raise Funds for Local Nonprofit

Bethlehem Inn is in the midst of a capital campaign to raise funds to expand on their homeless shelter in Bend, Oregon. After years of planning, and millions of dollars in fundraising, the Bethlehem Inn is getting ready for a long-awaited makeover.

But even with the finish line in sight, they still need to raise more funds. This past week they did just that, with a little help. Central Oregon Daily’s Eric Lindstrom has the story.

Nonprofit Collects Gifts for 500 Children in Need this Holiday Season

It started as a simple idea: making sure that no child goes without a present on Christmas. That simple idea, called “The Giving Tree,” turned into a community-wide effort in Bend last year.

Bend Fire Department Donates Winter Clothing

One of the newest firefighters on the Bend Fire & Rescue team told the department he wanted to start a coat drive last month, and Friday, firefighters delivered more than 500 pounds of winter clothing to needy families across Central Oregon.

Bend Mother Gives Back to Those in Need in Honor of Son

A new pair of socks might not sound like much to most of us, but one Bend woman knows that they can change lives. Kim Debraal has been battling her son’s addiction to drugs for more than a decade and now, she’s giving back to others by collecting socks for the homeless.
