St. Charles and Nurses Come to Tentative Contract Agreement

After 26 negotiation sessions, and one that lasted into the early hours of the morning, St. Charles Health Systems and the Oregon Nurses Association have come to a tentative agreement. Nurses at St. Charles have been working without a contract since June 2018 due to concerns from nurses about benefits for union members as well as concerns over staffing practices and patient safety at St. Charles in Bend.

Central Oregon Daily’s Allison Roecker has more on the agreement that was reached over the weekend.

St. Charles Nurses Organize Picket

Nurses from St. Charles Bend have voted to authorize an informational picket of the hospital later this month if on-going mediation efforts are not successful. Local nurses have been working without a contract for over seven months due to disagreements with St. Charles over patient care and a “chronic” staffing problem.
